as i pick up this sunflower
i look to the sky
remembering the time i said goodbye
wondering how we would get by

you were our ray of sunshine
an example of what a man should be like
you showed us what love truly looks like

i will always appreciate you
no one could ever fill your shoes
you were a very hard person to lose
and it hurts to be apart
but you will always be my pawpaw at heart

i know you are looking down
cheering for me
seeing me become the person i told you i was going to be
love you always

Emily Ding

Emily Ding is a muralist who draws inspiration from flora, fauna, and human temperament. Her large- scale work is characterized by expressive animals and figures, which come to life through bold color gradients and a fluid, painterly style. Resonating deeply with the phenomena of the natural world, she aims to communicate emotions and experiences, through storytelling with wild creatures and people.
