Mural saves building

Scene 1:
knock knock
door opens
Hey Johnny, No,
Me and a few locals
going down
to the building on Stevenson and Flushing
wanna
paint a mural with us?
man,
yes,
let me grab my
paint and brushes.
The two drive
to the old building.
waiting.
Hey guys.
Hey Johnny.
Everybody separates
and paints.

Scene 2:
Painting
drag the tip
of his brushes
left ,right, in circles.
Going from dark green
to light for the leaves,
to red and orange
for the belly
and black with some white
for the wings.
Slowly
Moving
on
the vibrant pink and purple
of the flower.

Scene 3:
Johnny,
Come take a break
No,
I´m good man,
in my zone
I’m almost done
Suit yourself dude.

Scene 4:
Johnny adds beautiful blues
curvy lines of light
blue, baby blue,
french blue
with a little bit of black.

Scene 5:
I’m done.
So cool.
I love this.
So many things
I’ve created,
but this right here
might be my favorite.
The mural is
a savior.
We stopped
them from
demolishing
the building

Johnny Five

Johnny Fletcher is known in the art world by his artist’s name, Johnny Five. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Johnny developed his love for art when an elementary art teacher encouraged him to pursue art as a career. He started creating robot characters on canvas at a young age inspired by his love of the movie Short Circuit. Presently, Johnny focuses on a photo realism style of portraits and nature images in his murals, but still enjoys putting one of his robots on a wall when the opportunity presents itself. Since his first canvas show at the Flint Institute of Arts in 2006, Johnny has dreamed of sharing his art with the world. In 2018 Johnny saw the opportunity to make his dream come true when a local organization, Flint Public Art Project (FPAP), started installing murals in his hometown. Since joining FPAP Johnny has created his own gallery of murals in Flint and many of its surrounding cities. In 2022, he was invited to paint for the Akumal Art Festival and Residency in Mexico, and in 2023 he will be painting in Reno, Nevada and San Diego, California.
